I released a new song: Natsukusa no Rail feat. Natsuki Karin.

When I visited Otaru in June, I wanted to make something inspired by the town.

Looking through my photos afterward, I came across the ones I took at the former Temiya Line.

The trains no longer run, and grass grows around the rails. I decided to make that the theme.

I wanted a nostalgic song

I was aiming for a slightly nostalgic feeling. More than simple longing for the past, I was thinking of suddenly remembering familiar scenery after leaving home.

You’re no longer there, but the scene remains in your memory. I hoped the abandoned tracks of the Temiya Line would fit that feeling.

A more mature voice for Karin

To suit the song, I adjusted Natsuki Karin’s voice to sound a little more mature than usual.

Instead of a bright, forward delivery, I tried for a quieter way of singing, as though she were telling someone about a memory.

I’d be glad if it sounds like quietly looking back after leaving home.

Trying a little jazz

The touch of jazz may have come from visiting HALF TONE in Otaru. I saw the life-size Karin panel dressed as a bartender in the calm bar.

I wanted a song that wouldn’t feel out of place playing in a bar like that.

It’s a direction I haven’t often tried, so I experimented with a slightly jazz-like atmosphere.

The Temiya Line scenery, the time I spent in Otaru, and a more grown-up Karin: I hope they come together in the song.

Please give it a listen.
