The weather is good today. Perfect for a stamp rally.
I edited a video while the laundry ran, then got ready to go out.
The final stamp
Only POP’n STRAGE remained on the Otaru town stamp rally I’d been doing yesterday.
I collected the last stamp and bought a Karin badge.
With every stamp in place, I received a completion gift.
I used buses this time, but next year I might try to reach every stop on foot.
A quick trip to Yoichi
With the stamps done, I caught a bus to Yoichi. First, lunch and my first Sapporo Classic of this stay.
I had a salsiccia pizza.
After a Black Nikka highball, I went to the Nikka Yoichi Distillery. One exhibit looked like a Liebig condenser.
Of course I tasted some whisky.
I could clearly taste the peat, though the aroma seemed sweeter. The peat smell when I entered the building had been very strong, but quite different from this glass.
Back to the aquarium
After Yoichi I returned to Otaru Aquarium.
I arrived in time for the dolphins.
I greeted Karin there again.
Back at my lodging, I tried again to remove yesterday’s ramune label. Once it had dried, I warmed it with a hair dryer and peeled it off.
Success.
Otaru from Mount Tengu
I went up Mount Tengu at night. Karin, here I am again.
It was my last night in Otaru, so I looked down over the city from the mountain.
Someone made small talk about how cold it was up there. I was wearing short sleeves.
I don’t want to pack
I returned to pack, but really didn’t want to leave. I hadn’t bought every badge, but just looking at the ones I’d collected made me almost want to cry.
Maybe I should take five days off again and stay a week.
Once I’d packed, I went to HALF TONE one last time.
That’s where I spent my final evening in Otaru.
