Snow was falling steadily again this morning. I’m heading to New Chitose Airport.

I said goodbye to Snow Miku there. My next visit is planned for four months from now.

I had a beer while waiting to board. Outside the window, everything was white.

I watched the snow-covered planes and the work going on around them.

After about an hour, the area was clear. The staff working to keep planes flying in weather like this are impressive.

I listened to air traffic radio while I waited. Times like this make me glad I brought it.

The shimmering air behind the engines looked cool too.

A conversation in Osaka

I flew back to Osaka.

On the train, a man I didn’t know asked about my huge backpack: “Hey, is someone living in there? How much rent do they pay?” That felt very Osaka.

I suppose a pack this big invites that kind of conversation.

In the evening I ate mantis shrimp from Otaru. I’d left Hokkaido, but Otaru was still with me.

That night I looked through my photos, thinking I might make a video of the trip.

Even yesterday’s scenery in Sapporo looked better for the snow. The TV Tower faded into the snowfall.

I’m glad I came to Hokkaido in winter.

I’ve already decided to return to Otaru in June and booked the flight. The next trip was planned before this one ended.
